Session 2: 5pm to 7pm - 5pm classes and Sat/Sunday 10am, Saturday Girls 12pm (6/7)

Once entries have been received gymnasts will be split by age and ability. Gymnasts will be competing against children of a similar age. We have three levels of difficulty, to challenge the wide range of ability and experience within our classes.
Preparing for competitions
Initially all gymnasts will start to learn the routines, regardless if they are intending to take part in the competition or not. As practicing sequences of skills and perfecting skills that are already learnt is an important part of gymnastics. As we move closer to the competition dates, those gymnasts not taking part will return to sessions that focus on learning and improving individual skills.
RECREATIONAL CLASS ROUTINES FOR SATURDAY 5TH MARCH COMPETITIONS
FLOOR (BOYS & GIRLS)
Level 1
- Forward roll
- Half turn jump
- 1 footed balance with knee raised to 90 degrees (hold 3 secs) return foot to floor
- Sit down and lie flat on back, roll over to stomach
- Push to Front support (hold 3 secs)
- Turn to Back support (hold 3 secs), lower and rock to stand
- Step into Cartwheel
- Join feet and Tuck jump
Level 2
- Cartwheel
- Backward roll
- Jump half turn
- Forward roll to Straddle stand, jump feet together
- Arabesque (Hold 3 secs)
- Lower to floor and push up to Bridge (Hold 3 secs) OR lift to Tucked Headstand (Hold 3 secs)
- Return to lying on back, and lift to Dish (3 secs), roll over to stomach
- Hold Arch (3 secs), return to stand.
Level 3
- Step into 2x Cartwheels connected
- Step into Handstand forward roll, immediate Half turn jump
- Backwards roll with straight legs
- Step into Arabesque (Hold 3 secs)
- Full turn jump
- Slide into any Splits (hold 3 secs) OR lower and lift to Straight leg Headstand (hold 3 secs)
- Round off (+flic optional)
- Straddle Jump
VAULT (BOYS & GIRLS)
Level 1
Straight jump onto a red block, walk smartly to the end, jump off
Level 2
Squat on – Jump off over vaulting table OR Squat through over vaulting table (1.00 bonus for squat through)
Level 3
Handspring Flat back over vault table at Suitable Height OR Handspring over block
PARALLEL BARS (BOYS ONLY)
Level 1
- Jump to support (hold 3 secs)
- Tucked ½ lever (hold 3 secs)
- 3 Swings and drop between bars on backward swing
Level 2
- Jump to support
- Half lever (hold 3 secs)
- 3 Swings and step across dismount on forward swing
Level 3
- Jump to support on end of bars
- Walk to middle of bars
- 2 dips
- Half lever (hold 3 secs)
- Cast into 4 Swings and step across dismount on backward swing
BEAM (GIRLS ONLY)
Level 1 (On Bench)
- Squat on
- 3 steps forward on toes
- 1 footed balance (knee at 90 degree angle, 3 seconds)
- Half turn on two feet (hands on hips)
- 3 steps backwards
- Half turn on two feet (hands on hips)
- Straight jump, walk to the end
- Star jump off
Level 2 (On Low Beam)
- Straddle on
- 3 steps forwards
- Straight jump, tuck jump
- Half turn on two feet (hands on hips)
- Arabesque (hold for 3 seconds)
- Walk backwards to the end
- Half turn on two feet (hands on hips)
- Half turn jump off
Level 3 (On High Beam)
- Jump to front support, swing leg over beam
- Straddle lever (3 seconds) to sit, squat and stand
- Cat leap
- Kick to handstand
- ½ turn spin
- Arabesque (3 secs)
- Half turn in squat, walk forwards ready for dismount
- Round off dismount
