Keatings Helps GB Team to Bronze in Stuttgart
Huntingdon Gymnast Daniel Keatings continued his International comeback with an impressive performance at a prestigious team competition in Stuttgart over the weekend. Representing Great Britain, Keatings, 23, worked as part of a 4 man squad competing against 12 of the top gymnastic nations from around the world. With only 4 teams qualifying for the Final, GB put in an impressive performance that saw them finish in front of the USA to grab the 4th spot, with Japan, China, and Germany taking the remaining places.
In Saturdays final Keatings was in impressive form, taking the highest score of the day on Pommel Horse and Parallel Bars, helping the GB boys to a bronze medal behind the powerhouse nations of China and Japan. His impressive score of 15.7 on bars equalled that of current World Champion Lin Chaopan of China, and underlines the potential for the Huntingdon gymnast to medal at the highest level. Keatings has just a few days at home before flying to Tokyo for the final event of the year, before preparation begins in earnest for the forthcoming European Championship and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next summer.
