Huntingdon Gymnast, Ryan Cirino, came away with a silver medal from the Under 12 British Championships, held in Glasgow, Scotland over the weekend. The talented 11 year old made the journey north along with 5 Club mates in order to compete in the prestigious annual event, showcasing the best juniors in the Country. Cirino competed well across the 6 men's apparatus to finish a creditable 14th overall, in a field of over 50 boys. He maintained great form on the horizontal bar, finishing with a well-executed double somersault, taking the silver medal, in a hard fought contest.
The Club was also well represented by Kieron Burch, who finished 17th all around, as well as Niall Hooton, Josh Papworth, and Bradley Cooper, who all put in steady performances across the disciplines. Christian Norman worked well in the Under 14 category, finishing 19th overall, and 8th on Parallel Bars.
The Huntingdon gymnasts now face a busy period of travel and competitions, with the English Championships in Loughborough next weekend, and the senior British event, to be held in Liverpool early in April. Double Olympian Louis Smith will also begin his campaign on the Road to Rio, with an international meet in Germany at the end of the month.
