Huntingdon gymnasts kicked off a busy competition season with some great results over the weekend.  Representing his Club in the Welsh Championships, Benji Eyre was in fine form winning the Senior All Around title in Cardiff on Saturday.  The talented 17 year old worked well across the six apparatus to amass an impressive score of over 75 points to take the National Title.  Benji now has his sights firmly set on a place in the Welsh Team for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Brisbane in 2018.  Clubmate Jake Jarman competed as a guest in the same event, amassing the highest all around score for his age group and gaining vital experience for the upcoming British Championships.

At the other end of the country Patrick Murphy competed in the Scottish Championships, held in Perth, and worked well for a silver medal all around in the Under 16 section of the event as well as qualifying for 4 apparatus finals.  Clubmate Tony Duchars also competed as a guest, representing Ireland, where a steady performance gained him the vital selection score required for consideration for the European Championships to be held in Switzerland in May.  Duchars' score of 77.6 was a personal best and he now waits for the Irish team announcement to ensure selection to compete against the best juniors in Europe.

The boys face a busy few weeks with both the British and English Championships coming up as well as numerous internationals prior to the Olympic Games.  Daniel Keatings travels to Qatar at the end of March in his quest for Olympic selection, and World silver medallist, Louis Smith, starts his campaign for Rio with the English Championships and a World Cup in Germany at the end of the month.
