Gymnasts from all over the county gathered at Huntingdon gymnastics club last weekend for the Cambrigdeshire championships.
In the FIG competition, which is the highest level, Lottie Smith was given the overall winner’s trophy when she won gold in the junior section. Her team mate Tilly Allen took the Silver medal. In the Espiors section Teegan Barnes took the gold and Elizabeth McFarlane won Silver.
The Level 2 competition saw Ailsa Wilson win the 14+ section with Rhiannon Anderson snatching the Bronze medal. Teegan Milligan won the Level 3 section for ten year olds with team mate Isabella Fleming collected the Silver with Emilyse Birch winning the bronze. Emily Mathers was victorious in the Level 4 section for 9 year olds, winning gold on all apparatus. A great start to the season for these girls.
The out of age competition was a qualification for the regional finals in October where the top three gymnasts go forward to represent the county. At level 3 Hannah Mathers won gold in the 11/12 years section and Olivia Manton took the Bronze medal in the 13+ year age group. In Level 4 Danielle Garner won the overall bronze medal in the 10/11 age group and Phoebe Mcdermott and Elysia Costanso also won bronze in the 12/13 and 14+ section respectively.
