This weekend eight boys from Huntingdon gymnastics club took part in the National grades finals in Birmingham's GMAC Center.
The weekend saw hundreds of junior gymnasts from all regions competing at 12 different age levels from 8-14 years. Huntingdon boys, representing the East region, did extremely well improving on last years' individual placements. Bradley Cooper (9) and Niall Hooton (10) competed well in their first qualification at National Level, and their team mates Kian Bell (11) Ryan Cirino (10) Kieron Burch (10) Christian Norman (12) and Pat Murphy (13) worked well in their relevant groups over 6 apparatus.
Best result of the weekend was Jake Jarman (12) who took individual and team silver in the Elite level 5 category against some stiff opposition from some of the best juniors in the Country. The result should see his selection to Junior National Squad for next year.
Hunts coach Steve Davison judged all weekend, and together with head boys coach Ben Howells, was encouraged by the boys performances. The HGC junior boys now embark on a three competition campaign at a voluntary level over the next four weeks, culminating in the British Under 14 championships to be held in Scotland in December.
