Members of the junior boys section of Huntingdon Gymnastics Club were in action over the weekend (19th June 2016) at the Pegasus Open Competition, held in Maidstone, Kent. Topping the pile was GB National Squad member Jake Jarman, who worked well over the six apparatus in the under 16 category to take the all around silver medal in a class field of high level gymnasts. Jake also took gold on floor and vault as well as a clutch of medals on the other 4 pieces In the under 12 section Kieron Burch maintained composure and impressed the judges to take the silver medal overall, as well as gold on vault and bronze on floor and parallel bars. Club mate Niall Hooton performed an excellent high bar routine to take bronze, adding to the medal haul for the Huntingdon boys.
The Club was also represented by Ryan Cirino, Bradley Cooper, and Josh Papworth in the under12 section, and Sol Scott, Ned Belchier, and Robbie Magan, who all worked well in their specific age groups. The Club now focusses on the London Open event on the 1st of July, which serves as the final selection competition for the Rio Olympic Team, and a chance for Louis Smith to book a place at his third Olympics.
